Yesterday I took a me day. Well, let’s call it what it really is, a lazy do nothing day. But I did spend some time out in my backyard. But what I did might surprise you.
I did nothing but listen. All week long I had been listening to people and advice. I have been listening to countless podcast, reading hundreds of pages of books, talking, praying. But when is the last time I just stopped and listened? When is the last time you stopped and listened? I have been praying about some situations that I have going on in my life and I have been trying to do my research and learn more about it. Then I prayed and prayed some more. But I never stopped and listened. I have been doing all the talking and I haven’t given God time to talk back. So yesterday, I got rid of all distractions, and sat out in my backyard and just listened. I even went as far as taking off my watch so I would not know how much time has passed, because that did not matter. I just wanted to listen. It is amazing what you can hear when you clear out all of the distractions in your life and just simply be and listen.
I don’t know what you have going on in your life. Chances are there is just as much bad as there is good. That is the world that we live in today. I want to challenge you though to just listen sometime this week. Block off some time in your busy schedule to just be and listen. Sometimes in the quiet the truth speaks the loudest. All you have to be willing to do is listen.
