As it rained most of the morning on Sunday I thought about rain. It is one of those things that people either lover or hate. There is no middle ground. And judging by the number of people in church this morning, I would say that most people hate it.
It is viewed as a nuisance. An annoyance. Something that ruins your plans. Something that makes it hard to get out of bed. But is that not all just perspective or a heart issue? See, me personally I love storms and I love the rain. Yes, I do think it is harder to get out of bed in the morning when it is raining, but mostly because I love listening to the rain hit the roof. Not because I am afraid that it will ruin all my plans. To this day, I still love splashing in puddles and driving my car through the big puddles on the road. Growing up we used to call it “bat car” when we drove through the puddles because the waves it created made our car look like the bat-mobile. But those puddles and that memory from growing up would never have happened without rain.
So next time it is a rainy day out. Don’t let it ruin your day, or get you down. Go jump in a puddle, sometimes we need to release the inner kid in us. Don’t let it get you down, but enjoy it. Rain really is a good thing.
