I can’t tell you how many times I’ve heard “maybe there is hope for this generation”. As a matter of fact I just heard it on the radio. My response has always been, I guess you have never spent time with this upcoming generations because I’m not worried at all.
I am sure my teachers, coaches, and Sunday School teachers said the same thing about me and my generation and I think we are doing all right. Sure every generation will have a few that ruin it for everyone. But for those few, there are thousands more on the front lines leading the charge improving our lives every day. So instead of worrying about the next generation and saying “maybe there is hope”, how about leading them in a way that ensures they’re on the right path. Take them to lunch. Go for coffee. Build a relationship with them. It’s a lot easier than you think.
Be the example they would want to follow. Not happy where the next generation is going? Show them the way. Who knows, you might accidentally learn something along the way too. Maybe they’re thinking that there wasn’t any hope for your generation, that’s why they are doing things different. Be the leader that others have to follow.
