So earlier this week something happened. I needed a jump start. My car battery finally died. The funny thing is that I knew this was going to happen.
A lot of times in life we are too stubborn to face the facts. For a few weeks now I have noticed that my car has been turning over a few more times before it actually starts. But I keep thinking to myself, I do not have time to deal with this today, so I will just wait and pray that it starts tomorrow. Do I recommend this approach, not at all. I was already mad because I had to stop for gas when I wanted nothing more than to get out of my work clothes and “veg” on the sofa. But I needed to be taught a lesson. I jumped in my truck after getting. And nothing. Now, one would think that since I already knew that I was having trouble with my battery that I would leave my jumper cables in the truck with me, no. I left them in the garage. So I had to call my wife to come rescue me and get the jumper cables and I jumped off my truck.
A few things can be learned from this situation. One, if something needs to be fixed, do it before it is a fatal mistake. I could have charged the battery or got it replaced before it was completely dead. All accidents/mistakes can be prevented. Second, sometimes no matter how bad you want to, you can’t do everything by yourself. I could have the most energy in the world, but I couldn’t hook those jumper cables up to myself and start the car. Sometimes you have to phone a friend, send in the artillery, or call for back-up. We all have our limits. And without another car, with a good battery, I would have never jump started my truck.
How is your battery? Is it going strong, is it weak and in need of a charge, or was it completely dead like mine and needing a jump start? Wherever you fall, take notice of it. Check your battery, so you don’t end up stranded like me.
