I love the obscure and unique. Those that know me best know my love of “useless” information. As I was reading tonight I couldn’t shake a verse in Provebs.
Proverbs 22:28 “Do not move an ancient boundary stone set up by your forefathers.” Now most people would skim right past that and not think twice. But I couldn’t concentrate on the book I was reading because of this Sayings of the Wise. Now I’m no theologian, but my footnotes told me to look at Proverbs 15:25. And I can say that I was even more confused. Haha. Upon further research these boundary stones were set up to mark, well boundaries. And looking at the context apparently people were moving the poor widows boundary stones, stealing their land. Now that’s dirty. You lose a husband and land.
But isn’t that what’s got us in our current predicament? I don’t like to get political but this perfectly describes our world today.
Each generation before us has gone and moved the boundary stones. It won’t hurt anything or anyone; I’m only moving it a couple of inches, or just a few small feet. But looking back over the years, we’re miles away from where our ancestors started. All because of one little change. Have you ever hiked in the woods and been one degree off? If you keep walking that path, what was one degree will end up worlds apart.
So it’s time for us to resurvey our land and take account for what is ours. We don’t have to move the boundary stones anymore. They were never intended to be moved in the first place. How are you going to stand your ground today amidst all the shifting sands?
